Solway Orienteers are excited to host an exciting weekend of orienteering in February.
On Saturday the 24 February, the Scottish Night Championships will take place in the grounds of the Crichton and the surrounding parks and environs. This is an area which will be new to most orienteers.
The courses make use of the parkland in the Crichton grounds, which was once the location of a traditional psychiatric hospital. So expect parkland with scattered buildings – a terrain which you are wise not to underestimate. The longer courses will loop out into the further reaches of Dumfries and will offer the competitor the challenges of transitioning between parks and urban terrain.

The following day, on Sunday 25 February, the action moves to Georgetown in Dumfries for the second event in the Scottish Urban Orienteering League.
It's a relatively modern estate with generally light traffic and lots of interconnecting paths.
